Emma was arranging her dolls in a neat circle inside the playhouse, each one dressed in its finest attire for the grand tea party. The tiny porcelain tea set sparkled under the afternoon sun, waiting to be filled with imaginary tea.
Hurt, a shy girl with a quiet demeanor, sat beside Emma. Her eyes were wide with curiosity as she watched her friend's nimble hands set the stage for their afternoon adventure.
"Welcome to the tea party, Hurt! Today, we're having lemon tea with blueberry scones," Emma announced with a cheerful smile.
"My tea isn't cold enough," Hurt murmured, her voice tinged with frustration. "And why do I feel blue when I should feel yellow?"
Emma paused, her hands halting mid-air as she poured another cup of imaginary tea. Hurt's face was a storm of emotions, and a shadow of concern crossed Emma's brow.
Hurt lashed out, sweeping the porcelain tea set onto the floor. Imaginary food scattered, and the dolls seemed to recoil in shock. Hurt's cries filled the air as she buried her face in her hands.
Emma rushed to her friend's side, enveloping her in a hug, whispering soothing words amidst the chaos. The dolls, now askew, watched silently as the storm subsided.
When Hurt awoke, she found Emma still beside her, a comforting presence. Hurt blinked back tears as she whispered, "I'm struggling with homework, and the big people at home never listen to me."
Emma nodded, her eyes filled with understanding. "I'm here for you, Hurt. Whenever you need to talk, we'll have another tea party, and I'll put on my listening ears just for you."
Hurt smiled weakly, the weight of her troubles lifting ever so slightly. Emma handed her a small box wrapped in vibrant paper—her listening ear, a promise of friendship.
Hurt clasped the gift tightly, her heart warming with gratitude. "Thank you, Emma. I feel better already."
Emma and Hurt sat together, surrounded by their dolls and the remnants of their tea party. The world outside may have been vast and daunting, but within the walls of the playhouse, they found solace in each other's company.
"Let's have many more tea parties, Hurt," Emma suggested, her voice full of warmth.
"Yes, let's," Hurt replied, a newfound lightness in her heart.
