Stephanie walked steadily, her shoes crunching against fallen leaves, with Ethan perched happily on her back. He was laughing, his small hands gripping her shoulders as they moved along the winding path.
"You're really strong, Stephanie!" Ethan exclaimed, the joy in his voice matching the warmth of the setting sun.
Chloe and her friend appeared, their eyes alight with mischief. They pointed and snickered, their words biting through the gentle air.
"Look at him! Letting a girl carry him!" Chloe sneered, her tone full of disdain.
Ethan's laughter faded, replaced by a flush of embarrassment.
"Stephanie, put me down, please," he whispered, his confidence shaken by their taunts.
Stephanie paused, turning to face Chloe and her friend.
"You know, I enjoy giving my friends piggyback rides. It doesn't matter what you think," she said, her words carrying strength and kindness.
Despite her resolve, Ethan slid off her back and ran away, hurt by the laughter that still echoed in his ears.
Ethan stumbled into the clearing, his eyes filled with tears. It was here that he met Spider-Man, who appeared as if by magic, swinging down to land gracefully beside him.
"Don't let others' words define who you are, Ethan," Spider-Man advised, his voice warm with understanding.
"True friendships aren't about who carries who, but about supporting each other," he continued, his words offering comfort and perspective.
Stephanie confronted Chloe, her eyes steady and unwavering.
"You should focus on lifting others up, not tearing them down," she said, her voice carrying a tone of gentle reprimand.
Chloe looked away, her laughter faltering as Stephanie's words resonated with an unexpected truth.
Stephanie spotted Ethan and rushed to him, relief and joy mingling in her steps. Without hesitation, Ethan leapt into her arms, his earlier shame replaced by newfound confidence.
Spider-Man watched from a distance, satisfied that his work was done.
"Remember, the strength of your friendship is what truly matters," he reminded them before swinging away into the night.
"Ready to head home?" Stephanie asked with a smile.
"Absolutely! Let's go!" Ethan giggled, climbing onto her back once more, his spirit unbroken and his heart full.
