Tommy, a mischievous twelve-year-old with an impish grin, sits at the back of the classroom, whispering excitedly to his buddy about his latest prank idea. Jake, his loyal sidekick, listens intently, nodding in agreement. "It's going to be epic, Jake. Just watch!"
Tommy carefully approaches Ms. Thompson, holding a pendulum he borrowed from the science lab. "Ms. Thompson, could you help me with this science experiment?" he asks innocently. Curious, she agrees, unaware of his true intentions. As she focuses on the swinging pendulum, Tommy recites the words he memorized from a book on hypnosis.
"Goo goo ga ga," she coos, much to the boys' delight. Tommy stifles a laugh as Ms. Thompson crawls around, playing with her pen as if it were a toy. The prank is going exactly as planned, and Jake can hardly contain his giggles. ‘Now, what do babies wear? Diapers! ‘Diapee!’ exclaimed Ms. Thompson. He took off her skirt and panties and secured a brand new diaper around her waist! ‘Baby make stinky!’ she said, squatting and grunting. Blort! Her diaper sagged and Tommy pinched his nose.
Watching her, Tommy feels a pang of guilt. The joke, once hilarious, now seems cruel and out of hand. He glances at Jake, who is beginning to look uneasy as well. "Maybe we should stop this," Tommy suggests, his voice tinged with regret.
"Wake up, Ms. Thompson," he whispers, repeating the phrases he hopes will reverse the hypnosis. Slowly, Ms. Thompson's eyes clear, and she blinks in confusion, sitting upright in her chair. "What happened?" she asks, rubbing her temples.
"I'm really sorry, Ms. Thompson. It was just a prank, and I didn't think it through," he admits, his voice earnest. Ms. Thompson, still slightly disoriented, smiles gently. "I appreciate your honesty, Tommy. Let's talk about this tomorrow," she replies, her tone forgiving but firm. As Tommy and Jake leave the classroom, he realizes that some pranks aren't worth the risk, especially when they hurt someone else.
