Benny the Rabbit patted his jacket pockets, nose twitching with worry. His favorite carrot—large, orange, and perfectly crisp—was nowhere to be found. He scurried out of his burrow, ears perked and eyes wide, determined to find his missing snack.
Benny[/@ch_1] approaches a tall oak tree. A bushy-tailed squirrel, busy sorting acorns atop a low branch, pauses to greet him.]
Sally the Squirrel, energetic and always chatty, looked down curiously at her friend.
"Good morning, Sally! Have you seen my carrot anywhere? I can't seem to find it,"
"Oh dear, Benny! I haven't seen any carrots today. But I'll keep my eyes open. Maybe you left it near your favorite reading spot?"
Benny[/@ch_1] spots a wise old tortoise sunbathing at the water's edge.]
Thomas the Tortoise, slow-moving but thoughtful, looks up with a kind smile.
"Thomas, have you seen my carrot? I had it this morning but now it's vanished!"
"I'm sorry, Benny, I haven't seen it. But things often turn up in the most unexpected places. Are you sure you didn't eat it already?"
Benny[/@ch_1] finds a prickly hedgehog sipping tea near her front door.]
Hazel the Hedgehog, gentle and soft-spoken, sets down her teacup and listens to Benny’s woes.
"Hazel, my carrot has gone missing! Have you seen or heard anything?"
"No, Benny, but perhaps retrace your steps. Sometimes, what we're searching for is closer than we think,"
Benny[/@ch_1] returns home, the sun is higher, casting warm golden light over the clearing. He slumps by his burrow, feeling a little foolish and very hungry.]
Benny sighs, absentmindedly sliding his paw into his jacket pocket. His eyes widen as he feels something familiar—smooth, cool, and distinctly carroty. With a sudden laugh, he pulls out his missing carrot, whole and untouched.
Benny[/@ch_1] sits on a soft patch of grass, savoring his carrot. His friends gather around, laughing and chatting, delighted by the happy ending.]
"Oh, Benny! You had it all along!"
"I suppose sometimes, we just need to look a little closer—even in our own pockets," he chuckles, sharing bites of his carrot with all his friends as the sun sets gently over the woods.
