Suzie and Peter skipped through the park, their laughter echoing in the warm afternoon air. Suddenly, Peter stopped and pointed. "Look, Suzie! A big book!" he exclaimed. Suzie clapped her hands in excitement. "Let's read it!" she said, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
Suzie and Peter sat down beside the book, their eyes wide with wonder. "This page has a cat," whispered Suzie, tracing the picture with her finger. Peter nodded, "And the word is 'cat.' C-A-T," he spelled out carefully. They giggled, proud of their shared discovery.
"Here is a dog!" Peter announced, pointing to a fluffy puppy picture. Suzie leaned in closer, "D-O-G," she read aloud, her voice full of excitement. As they turned each page, new friends appeared—an owl, a frog, a fish—each with its short, simple word.
Suzie giggled, tapping a picture of a hopping bunny. "B-U-N-N-Y," she spelled, and Peter gave her a thumbs-up. "We are reading so well!" he said, his face glowing with pride. They imagined the animals playing around them in the park, a magical parade of furry and feathered friends.
Peter closed the book with a satisfied sigh. "That was fun," Suzie said, her cheeks flushed with delight. Peter nodded, "We learned a lot of new words," he added. They watched as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky with pinks and purples.
"Let's come back and read more tomorrow," Suzie suggested. Peter agreed, "Yes, there's so much more to see and learn," he said eagerly. Hand in hand, they walked home, their hearts full of adventure and their minds buzzing with new words.
