Mia stood next to her new bike, its bright red frame glistening in the evening light. Her father, Tom, knelt beside her, adjusting the straps on her helmet with a reassuring smile.
"Ready to give it a try, sweetheart?"
Mia nodded, her excitement mingled with nervousness. "I think so, but what if I fall?"
Tom chuckled softly, patting her shoulder. "Falling is just part of the learning, Mia. Besides, I'll be right here with you."
Mia climbed onto the bike, her small hands gripping the handlebars tightly as Tom held onto the seat. Her heart raced as she pushed off, wobbly at first, but determined.
"Keep pedaling, and look straight ahead," Tom encouraged, jogging beside her.
Mia focused on the path, feeling the bike sway beneath her. She took a deep breath, steadying herself as she pedaled forward.
Mia lay still for a moment, the world spinning slightly. Tom was at her side in an instant, concern etched on his face.
"Are you okay, kiddo?" he asked gently, helping her sit up.
Mia nodded, brushing off her scraped knees. "I'm okay, Dad. Just a little scared."
Tom smiled warmly, offering her a hand. "You did great, Mia. Falling means you're trying, and that's what matters."
Mia took a deep breath, her resolve hardening. "Can we try again?" she asked, determination lighting up her eyes.
Tom nodded, pride swelling in his chest. "Absolutely. Let's give it another go."
Tom ran beside her, offering words of encouragement as she found her balance. This time, she glided smoothly, the bike obedient beneath her.
Mia laughed, a sound of pure joy and triumph. "I'm doing it, Dad! I'm really doing it!"
Tom wrapped an arm around Mia's shoulders as they walked back to the car, the bike trailing behind them.
"Thanks for teaching me, Dad," Mia said, her voice filled with gratitude.
"Anytime, Mia. I'm proud of you for not giving up," Tom replied, his heart full of love and pride.
As the stars began to twinkle overhead, Mia knew that this was only the beginning of many rides to come, each one an adventure guided by her father's unwavering support.
