Jamie sat at the kitchen table, feeling the familiar pangs of hunger as his stomach gurgled loudly. His mother, Mrs. Thompson, stood by the counter, slicing a loaf of bread with precision. "I'll have breakfast ready in just a moment, dear," she called over her shoulder.
Jamie couldn't wait any longer. The gurgling in his stomach was relentless. He ambled outside, drawn by the sound near the oak tree. His dog, Max, bounded alongside him, tail wagging with excitement. "What's there, boy?" Jamie asked as Max sniffed the ground with fervor.
Jamie knelt down, brushing away the soil to reveal the pouch. His heart raced with the thrill of discovery. Max barked enthusiastically, as if urging him to hurry. "I wonder what's inside," he murmured to himself, carefully untying the cord.
Jamie's eyes widened at the sight of the coins, their designs unlike anything he'd seen before. He spread the map open on the grass, tracing the lines and symbols with his finger. "This looks like a treasure map!" he exclaimed, his voice tinged with excitement.
Jamie rushed back inside, the map clutched in his hands. Mrs. Thompson placed a plate of eggs and toast on the table, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "What's that you've got there?" she asked, nodding towards the map. "A treasure map, I think! Can I explore after breakfast?" Jamie replied eagerly.
Jamie took a deep breath, feeling the morning air invigorate him. Max barked at his side, as if ready to lead the way. "Let's see where this map takes us," he said with determination, stepping into the garden, where adventure awaited beyond the familiar confines of his home.
