Dora and Boots were looking at pictures when the old album suddenly snapped shut with a loud clap. The room, which had felt warm and cheerful a moment before, now seemed full of shadows that stretched across the floor like long fingers. "Boots, did you see that? That photo album moved all by itself, and I do not think it wants to be our friend right now!"
Boots clutched Dora’s hand as they ran down the path as fast as they could. The album chased them past bushes, stepping-stones, and a little fence, making eerie rustling sounds with every jump. "Dora, that scary photo album is following us, and I am too scared to stop, so let’s hurry and find Geo Umizoomi because maybe he will know exactly what to do!"
Geo Umizoomi was kind and brave, and he listened carefully as Dora and Boots told him everything that had happened. Their voices shook, but Geo Umizoomi nodded with a thoughtful smile and looked toward the dark path where the album was coming. "Geo Umizoomi, a scary photo album chased us from my house, and it keeps coming closer, so please help us scare it away before it scares us again!"
"Do not worry, friends, we can be brave together, and if we work as a team, we will find a way to scare that scary photo album instead!"
Geo Umizoomi had an idea that was silly, spooky, and perfect for the moment. He told Dora and Boots that they should all pretend to be ghosts and say “friends” each time, so they could become the scariest sight in the whole park. "Listen, Dora and Boots, if we all say ‘friends’ each time and act like floating ghosts together, then the scary photo album might get frightened and run away from us!"
"I like that plan, because even though I am still a little shaky, I know I can be a ghost with my friends and help save the day!"
Together, Dora, Boots, and Geo Umizoomi said “friends” again and again, and each time they did, they became more ghost-like, glowing pale and floaty in the moonlight. Their feet rose off the ground, their shapes turned misty, and their eyes shone with playful courage instead of fear. "Friends! Friends! Friends! Look, Boots and Geo Umizoomi, we really became ghosts, and now the scary photo album is staring at us like it does not know what to do!"
The scary photo album had wanted to frighten others, but now it was the one that felt terrified. It squeaked, snapped shut, and ran for its life across the grass, bumping over the path and disappearing into the dark with a panicked rustle. "It worked, friends, it worked! The scary photo album is scared of ghosts, and now it is the one running away as fast as it can!"
"Yay, we did it, and I am not scared anymore because we were brave together and scared away the scary photo album!"
Mom listened with wide eyes as Dora told the whole story from beginning to end. Boots smiled proudly, and Geo Umizoomi stood beside them while their friends cheered for their bravery. "What an amazing adventure, Dora, and I am so proud that you, Boots, and Geo Umizoomi stayed together, became ghost friends, and found a brave way to solve the problem!"
"Mom, the scary photo album chased us, but then Boots and Geo Umizoomi helped me, we became ghosts by saying ‘friends,’ and the scary photo album ran away because it got scared of us!"
"You did it, Dora, we all did it, and being ghost friends together made us brave enough to turn a scary moment into a happy ending!"
