I lay in bed quite peacefully, not breaking any rule when I heard a loud voice say, "Wake up, wake up, sleepy head, you have to go to school." Reluctantly, I dragged myself from the blankets that were cozy and so warm, feeling more than just forlorn. The voice continued, "Take a shower, brush your teeth and hair, then put on your school uniform, while breakfast I prepare."
Sam, that's me, hurriedly collected my homework, pencils, and school book. My mom, who was preparing breakfast, asked, "Where is your school bag? Have you filled it with all I said?" She shook her head, "My goodness, you still look like you've just got out of bed!" I quickly put on my shoes, ready for the bus that waited for no child.
On the bus, I saw my friend Maya. Together, we played games on our smartphones, happy for a while. But once we arrived at school, where phones were not allowed, we turned them off and sat there all confused. Our teacher, Mr. Thompson, asked us to take out our Science books, "Tell me how far from here to Mars? And what shines in the sky at night, are they planets or are they stars?"
Mr. Thompson praised a girl who raised her hand, "I always see the moon at night," she said. Next, we tackled grammar, struggling with THEIR and THERE. My friends who understood were allowed to leave their chairs, while the rest of us sat there. I finally grasped it, thinking, "Ah, ah, ah, I think I've got it!"
The bell then rang for lunchtime, and I relished pork and sticky rice with watermelon for dessert. In the playground, we played a game of chase, and I came in a close second as my best friend won the race. Back in the classroom, math took its toll on my brain, with addition and subtraction leaving my head sore.
Finally, it was afternoon break. I enjoyed my favorite juice with a sandwich and a cake. During social studies, I found myself bored, pondering "Who invented TikTok? And who invented Roblox?" These were the things I truly wanted to know. Our teacher wasn't happy, but we all asked her, "Miss, tell us, please, how the world has changed?"
When the final bell rang, I headed home, where my mom reminded me, "Take your shoes off and hang up your school bag." With an hour's homework to do, I pleaded, "Please, mum, let me have a little time to rest." She gave me ten minutes, and I quickly played Roblox, where I imagined school as a monster that I slayed. After finishing my homework, I enjoyed a lovely stew.
Three hours before bedtime, my favorite time of day, I played on my iPad, sometimes joined by my dad. Together, we had much fun, and I realized how much I loved my family. As bedtime approached, I thought, "My life is very busy but full of joy for all that I've been taught." Goodnight, love, Sam.
