Sammy the Sloth, known by the animals as a sleepy, shy teacher, dangles from a branch in his classroom—a cluster of broad leaves and twisted lianas. His half-lidded eyes drift over his students, a group of chattering monkeys and curious frogs, as he slowly reviews the history of tree growth. Most animals think he’s just bored, but only his closest friend knows otherwise.
Tico the Toucan, Sammy’s loyal confidant, leans in, his voice a low whisper. "Sammy, did you hear? A baby capybara is stuck by the riverbank. The jaguars are prowling nearby!" Sammy’s eyes snap open a fraction wider, and he nods, his claws gripping the branch with intent.
With a deliberate motion, Sammy pulls a small, crimson mask from under his mossy fur and slides it over his face. Instantly, his demeanor changes; his limbs tense and his eyes sharpen. "Time for a little speed," he murmurs, darting unseen through the canopy at astonishing velocity—leaves barely flutter in his wake.
Before the jaguars can pounce, Sammy swoops down, grabs the capybara, and sweeps it up onto a safe tree limb in a heartbeat. The jaguars blink, confused, as a gentle voice whispers reassurance to the frightened baby. "You’re safe now. Stay close to the trees," Sammy urges before vanishing as swiftly as he appeared.

Tico lands on a nearby branch, a knowing gleam in his eye. "Another daring rescue, eh, teacher?" he teases quietly. "Just a regular day," Sammy replies, a secret smile curling at the edge of his mouth.
