Cat huddled inside his now soggy cardboard shelter, shivering as the cold rain seeped in. His fur was matted and wet, and he looked out at the desolate alley with a sigh. It seemed like the rain would never stop. Just then, Rat emerged from a nearby metal can, his eyes full of concern.
"Cat, come stay in my house—it's dry and sturdy!" he squeaked.
Cat's face lit up with relief. He quickly padded over to Rat's metal abode, grateful to escape the rain's relentless assault.
Inside Rat's metal house, the heat was unbearable. Cat and Rat panted heavily, desperate for some cool air. The metal walls had turned into a furnace, offering no respite from the blazing sun.
Suddenly, Dog barked from a shady spot nearby, "Come over to my wooden house—it's cooler here!"
Without a second thought, Cat and Rat bolted towards the cooler shelter, eager to escape the oppressive heat.
As the storm raged outside, the wooden house began to creak and shudder. Cat, Rat, and Dog huddled together, eyes wide with fear as the wind howled.
Pig suddenly appeared, his voice urgent, "Quick, come to my brick house! It's strong enough to survive the storm!"
The trio wasted no time, darting out into the storm and racing towards Pig's sturdy brick home, hoping for safety from the raging elements.
Cat, Rat, Dog, and Pig sat together, sipping hot chocolate by the fire. The snow fell gently outside, but inside, they were warm and content.
"This is perfect," Cat purred, feeling the warmth seep through his fur.
"It’s nice to have friends to weather the storm with," Pig added, smiling at the cozy scene.
The next morning, the weather seemed to have a mind of its own. First, it poured rain, then the sun blazed hot, and finally, snow fell all within a few hours.
"What’s going on with the weather?" Cat wondered aloud, staring at the ever-changing sky.
But as they looked around, they realized they were no longer bothered by the whims of the weather. Together, they felt secure, knowing they had each other. With smiles all around, they declared, "Let the weather do its worst—we’ve got a home now."
And so, no matter how angry the weather got, they stayed safe and happy together in their little brick haven.
