Gibley, the littlest gargoyle, is different from the others. While his companions brood in silence, he often finds himself giggling at the antics of the people below. Despite being made of stone, his eyes twinkle with a mischief that seems almost alive.
Gibley shifts his position slightly, sending a tiny pebble tumbling down the roof. "Watch out below!" he chuckles to himself, though no one can hear him. The pebble lands harmlessly in a flower pot, startling a stray cat, who leaps up and scampers away, much to Gibley's delight.
Lila, the curious child, feels a peculiar connection to Gibley. "I know you're watching," she whispers, waving her hand. To her amazement, Gibley winks a stony eye. Lila gasps, a smile spreading across her face.
Gibley feels a warmth in his stone heart, knowing Lila believes in him. "Thank you for seeing me," he whispers into the night, though his voice is but a gentle breeze to her ears. She nods, sensing his gratitude.
Lila returns to the square, her eyes scanning the cathedral façade. Gibley sits proudly, his once silly grin now a symbol of their secret friendship. "I'll be back," Lila promises with a playful salute, and Gibley seems to nod in agreement.
Gibley, the silliest little gargoyle, is content. He may be carved from stone, but thanks to Lila, he knows the joy of companionship. And as the world moves on, he smiles his widest, silliest grin yet, a testament to the magic of being seen.
