Isla could barely contain her excitement as she awaited her friends' arrival. The living room was set with colorful sleeping bags and a table filled with snacks. Her heart raced with anticipation, knowing this night would be unforgettable.
The doorbell rang, and Isla rushed to open it. Ellie and Layton stood there, grinning widely, their arms laden with pillows and overnight bags. "I'm so glad you both could make it!" Isla exclaimed, pulling them into a warm embrace.
Ellie rolled the dice, her eyes gleaming with mischief. "I declare a dance-off!" she announced, jumping to her feet. Layton groaned, but a playful smile tugged at his lips. "You're on!" he challenged, as they cleared the space for an impromptu dance battle.
Isla held a flashlight under her chin, her voice low and mysterious. "Once upon a time, in a haunted forest..." she began, weaving a tale that sent shivers down their spines. Ellie clutched her pillow, eyes wide, while Layton tried to appear unfazed, though his gaze was fixed intently on Isla.
Layton rummaged through the shelves, emerging triumphantly with a tub of ice cream. "Who’s up for an ice cream sundae?" he asked, his eyes twinkling. Ellie and Isla cheered, grabbing bowls and spoons, eager to indulge in the sweet treat.
Ellie was the first to drift off, her breathing slow and steady. Isla lay awake for a moment longer, listening to the gentle snores of her friends. A sense of contentment washed over her as she whispered, "Best sleepover ever." Soon, she too succumbed to the lull of sleep, dreaming of the adventures yet to come.
