Sammy the Squirrel was known among the forest creatures for his love of naps. While the other squirrels dashed about, he preferred to curl up and dream away the day. "Just a few more minutes," Sammy would murmur, drifting into a peaceful slumber.
Oliver the Owl hooted a warning to the forest residents. "Winter is coming! Gather your food before the snow falls!" The other squirrels scurried about, collecting nuts with urgency, while Sammy yawned and snuggled deeper into his nest. "Just five more minutes of sleep," he mumbled.
Sammy continued to nap, occasionally waking to bury a few nuts. However, his sleepiness got the better of him, and he often forgot where he had hidden them. "I'll remember later," he assured himself each time, even as he drifted back to sleep.
Sammy woke with a start. Shivering, he thought, "Time to eat my delicious nuts!" But as he searched, panic set in. "Oh no! Where did I put them?" he cried, his heart sinking.
He dug under leaves, peeked beneath logs, and even asked the chipmunks for help, but his nuts were nowhere to be found. Despair settled in as Sammy sat on a snowy stump, feeling both sad and hungry.
"Trouble, young one?" Oliver asked with a chuckle. Sammy nodded, explaining how he had been too sleepy to remember where he hid his food. "Squirrels have sharp noses! Use yours!" Oliver suggested kindly.
He began to dig eagerly, and there, beneath the snow, were his forgotten nuts, safe and sound. "Thank you, Oliver!" Sammy squeaked with joy, his heart full of gratitude.
From that day on, Sammy still enjoyed his naps but made sure to work hard first. He even created a map of his buried nuts to avoid forgetting again. He had learned an important lesson: there’s a time to rest and a time to work.
