Pablo carefully stacks another snow brick onto the fort wall, his blue feathers dusted with frost.
Uniqua tosses a handful of snow into the air, watching it glitter and fall.
Tyrone adjusts his scarf, glancing at the shadowy edge of the woods bordering the yard.
"Let’s see who can build the tallest tower before the sun goes down!"
Uniqua gasps, her eyes wide with fear.
Tyrone shouts, "Did you see that? There’s a snow monster!"
All three friends drop their shovels and dash away from their fort, their footprints marking a hasty escape.
Pablo breathes heavily, "Geo, Milli, Bot, you have to help us! There’s a giant snow monster in our yard!"
Geo, with his blue helmet and enthusiastic smile, quickly grabs his Umi-Goggles.
"Don’t worry, Team Umizoomi is on the way! Let’s use our mighty math powers to solve the mystery!"
Milli kneels next to a set of large prints, "These footprints look funny… They’re bigger than Tyrone’s, but not as deep as they should be for something so big."
Bot swings his arms, projecting a map onto the snow, "Let’s see where the tracks lead!"
The group follows the zig-zagging path, their breath puffing in the cold.
Austin, sheepish and shivering, peeks out from under the disguise.
"I’m sorry! I wanted to surprise you with my snow monster costume, but I didn’t mean to scare anyone."
Uniqua giggles with relief, "Austin, you really had us running for our lives!"
Geo hands Austin a fresh scarf, "Next time, let’s make sure everyone’s in on the fun!"
Tyrone tosses a snowball at Austin, "But maybe keep the mop inside!"
The backyard echoes with joy as the friends work side by side, the memory of the snow monster turning into the best winter adventure ever.
