Max stood by the window, his nose pressed against the frosted glass. The world outside was a winter wonderland, but he saw only an endless sea of white that stole away his favorite playground. "I hate snow," he muttered, turning away with a frown.
Lucy, Max's cheerful neighbor, burst into the room, her cheeks rosy from the cold. "Come on, Max! Let’s go play outside!" she urged, waving a pair of woolen mittens. Max shook his head stubbornly. "There’s nothing fun about being cold and wet," he protested.
Reluctantly, Max followed Lucy into the yard, where she immediately began gathering snow. "I’ll show you how to build a snow fort," she declared enthusiastically. Max watched as Lucy's nimble fingers shaped the snow into blocks. Curious, he crouched down and began to help, feeling the cold trickle through his gloves.
Max peeked through a gap in the fort’s wall, spotting a group of kids playing. "Let’s join them!" Lucy suggested. Hesitant at first, Max eventually joined in, feeling the rush of excitement as he dodged snowballs and launched his own. For the first time, he laughed, feeling the warmth of friendship seep through the cold.
Lucy and Max began to roll large snowballs, stacking them to create a snowman. With a carrot for a nose and a scarf wrapped around its neck, the snowman soon stood tall. "It looks like it’s smiling," Max observed, his own smile widening. Others joined in, adding touches that made the snowman unique, bringing the community together in shared joy.
Max stood beside Lucy, looking at the snowman that now seemed to guard the town square. His heart was full, the winter blues replaced by the warmth of companionship and newfound fun. "Snow isn’t so bad after all," he admitted, squeezing Lucy's hand. Together, they watched as the snowflakes danced in the gentle night breeze, transforming the world into a magical place.
