Tom, with his uneven gait, tries to blend in, but the laughter from nearby ants stings his heart.
Worker Ants, busy and quick, pause to watch him pass.
"Look at Tom! His legs look like twigs and his head is so big, he can barely carry crumbs!"
"I wish I looked normal," Tom whispers to himself, eyes downcast as he hurries along the path.
Tom[/@ch_1] sits apart, listening to the snickers and whispers that float his way.]
Ruby, a smaller ant with bright eyes, joins the group and points at Tom, giggling.
"Do you think his antennae can pick up radio signals? Maybe that's why they're so bent!"
The others burst out laughing, and Tom turns away, wishing he could disappear into the shadows cast by the leaf.
Tom[/@ch_1] sits by himself at the edge of a small puddle, his reflection distorted in the rippling water. Sunlight glints off his shell, highlighting his differences.]
"Why do I have to look this way? I wish I could be like everyone else," Tom sighs, shoulders slumped.
He pokes at the water, watching the image shatter, feeling more alone than ever.
Tom[/@ch_1]'s attention. Bella, a cheerful honeybee with shimmering wings, lands beside him, her stripes glowing in the sun.]
"Hi there, you look sad. What's wrong?"
"Everyone laughs at me because I look different. I hate how I look," Tom confesses, voice trembling.
"But your differences make you unique! Where I come from, every bee has their own pattern. That’s what makes us special. Why not in your colony?"
Tom[/@ch_1] and Bella wander together, watching butterflies with uneven wings and a ladybug with extra spots.]
"See? Nature is full of surprises. If everyone looked the same, the world would be boring,"
"Maybe... maybe my weird legs help me climb better, and my big head helps me carry more food," Tom says, a small smile breaking through.
"Exactly! You should be proud to be you,"
Tom feels a lightness in his step as he and Bella return to the colony.
Tom[/@ch_1] steps forward, standing tall, his unusual features now symbols of pride.]
"I may look different, but that’s what makes me, me. I can do things others can’t, and I’m proud of it,"
The ants, surprised, fall silent. Worker Ants murmur among themselves, some looking at Tom with new respect.
"Maybe being different isn’t so bad after all," Ruby says quietly, and a few ants nod.
As the stars appear above, Tom sits with his friends, finally feeling special for exactly who he is.
