Rocky could barely contain his excitement as he stood on tiptoe to peek over the counter. His older sisters, Bella and Carina, were already busy helping their mom prepare for the holy month.
"Can I help too?" Rocky asked eagerly, his eyes wide with anticipation.
"Of course, you can," smiled Bella, handing him a small bowl of dates to arrange on a platter.
Carina hummed a cheerful tune as she stirred a pot of soup, the fragrant steam rising in swirls. She looked at Rocky with a gentle smile.
"Do you know why we fast during Ramadan, Rocky?" she asked.
"It's to make us stronger," Rocky replied proudly, his small hands carefully placing the dates in neat rows.
"That's right, and it also teaches us patience and kindness," added Bella, as she sprinkled cinnamon into a mixing bowl.
Bella sat beside Rocky, her eyes twinkling as she began to tell a story about Ramadan.
"A long time ago, Ramadan was revealed as a time for spiritual reflection," she explained, her voice gentle and engaging. Rocky listened intently, his eyes filled with wonder.
"And it's a time to remember those who are less fortunate and to share what we have," Carina added, her voice thoughtful.
Rocky looked at his sisters, understanding dawning in his young eyes.
"So, it's not just about fasting. It's about being kind and helping others," he said softly, feeling the warmth of the lessons shared.
"Exactly," Bella said, giving him a proud nod.
Carina placed the last dish on the table, and Rocky beamed with pride at his contribution. "Let's remember to be grateful for our blessings," she reminded everyone. "And let’s always share the spirit of Ramadan in our hearts," Bella added with a smile. Together, at sundown, along with their mom, they began their meal. The warmth of family and the spirit of Ramadan enveloping them like a comforting embrace.
