Omar, a sweet-faced boy of no more than eight, clutches a basket of fresh rolls as he hurries along the cobblestone path. His brown eyes shine with purpose, and he pauses to help an old woman gather spilled apples from the ground. "Here you are, Granny. Let me help you so nothing goes to waste," he offers with a shy, earnest smile.
Omar notices a classmate sitting alone, clutching a torn satchel. Without hesitation, he sits beside her, sharing half his bread and listening as she shares her worries about a lost book. "We can look for it together after class. Don't worry; we'll find it," he reassures, his voice gentle and full of warmth.
Omar kneels quietly, hands folded, whispering prayers of thanks and seeking guidance. He bows his head, a hint of fear flickering in his eyes as he remembers his mother’s words about always doing good for the sake of God. "Please help me be kind and never forget You are always watching," he prays softly.
Passing by a hungry stray dog, Omar stops, taking the last piece of bread from his basket. He hesitates, remembering how hungry he is, but gently places the bread before the animal. "Eat well, little friend. I hope God is pleased," he murmurs, watching the dog wag its tail in gratitude.
Mama Fatima, Omar's mother, draws him into her arms as he enters, cheeks flushed from the cool night air. "You always come home so late, my dear. What keeps you so busy?" she asks, concern in her eyes. "I just want to help, Mama. I want to do what’s right. I remember what you told me—that God is always watching," Omar replies, his voice barely above a whisper.
Mama Fatima brushes a curl from Omar’s forehead, her voice soft and full of pride. "You help others not just because of fear, my son, but because your heart is pure. God sees your kindness, and so do I," she whispers. Omar smiles, comforted, and drifts to sleep knowing that the goodness he shares, born of both reverence and compassion, lights up the world around him.
