Jaya and Vijaya, the loyal gatekeepers, stand tall and vigilant before the gates. Their armor gleams in the sunlight, and their eyes are warm but resolute. On this gentle morning, all is calm as they watch over the entrance, devoted to their duty and to Lord Vishnu.
The visitors are the Sanat Kumaras: Sanaka, Sanandana, Sanatana, and Sanatkumara. Though they appear as children, wisdom sparkles in their eyes. They pause before the gate, their faces bright with anticipation and reverence, hoping to greet Lord Vishnu.
"We cannot let you pass right now," Jaya says firmly, his hand resting on the golden bars. Vijaya adds, "Lord Vishnu is resting, and we must ensure his peace is undisturbed. Please return later." The boys exchange glances, their expressions falling.
"Lord Vishnu welcomes all with love. Why do you turn us away?" "Because of this, you shall leave Vaikuntha and be born on Earth as mortals," states Sanandana, his voice both gentle and powerful. A ripple of sorrow and shock spreads across Jaya and Vijaya's faces.
"Please, my Lord, forgive us," Jaya pleads, his voice trembling. "I cannot undo the curse, but I can give you a choice. You may be born seven times as my friends, or three times as my enemies. When your journeys are over, you shall return," Lord Vishnu declares, his words echoing with kindness. "We cannot bear to be away from you for so long, even as friends," Vijaya whispers, glancing at his companion. "Let us be your enemies for three lives, so that you will come to us and bring us back," Jaya replies, their devotion shining through their tears.
As Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashipu, they become mighty demons. Lord Vishnu descends as Varaha and Narasimha, fierce and majestic, to restore balance. Next, the brothers return as Ravana and Kumbhakarna, surrounded by golden palaces and dark forests, and Lord Vishnu appears as Rama. Lastly, in a bustling royal court, they are Shishupala and Dantavakra, and Lord Vishnu comes as Krishna, guiding their souls home.
"We are home, wiser than before," Jaya says, his eyes shining with gratitude. "We will greet every soul with gentleness and love, as you have taught us," Vijaya promises. "Welcome home, my faithful friends," Lord Vishnu replies, embracing them in warmth and light as peace settles once more over Vaikuntha.
