Once upon a time, an old mother pig had three piglets. She loved them dearly but didn't have enough food to keep them. With a heavy heart, she sent them out to seek their own luck. The piglets, full of hope and excitement, set off down the dusty path, their tiny hooves leaving prints behind them.
The first piglet trotted along until he met a man with a bundle of straw. "Sir, please give me the straw so I can build a house," he requested. The man, seeing the piglet's eagerness, gave him the straw. The piglet, filled with enthusiasm, built a house out of straw. It was a cozy little house that glowed warmly in the afternoon sun.
Soon after, a big bad wolf passed by. "Hey, little pig, let me in," he demanded. "No, no, not by the hair on my chinny chin chin," replied the piglet. "Then I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house in," said the wolf. And so he did. He huffed and he puffed, and he blew the straw house down. The little piglet quickly ran away to his brother.
The second piglet had met a man with a bundle of sticks. "Sir, please give me the sticks so I can build a house," he asked. The man obliged, and the piglet built a sturdy house of sticks. As he sat inside, proud of his work, his brother arrived, breathless and worried. "The wolf blew my house down! Please can I stay here?" "Of course, my house is made of sticks, it’s safe for sure!" his brother assured him.
The big bad wolf soon came to the house made of sticks. "Hey, little pig, let me in," he growled. "No, no, not by the hair on my chinny chin chin," replied the piglet. "Then I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house in," threatened the wolf. He huffed and puffed, and he blew the stick house down. The two piglets ran as fast as they could to their other brother.
The third piglet had met a man with a load of bricks. "Please, sir, give me those bricks so I can build a house," he requested. The man gave him the bricks, and the piglet constructed a secure house of bricks. As he was settling in, his two brothers arrived, panting and fearful. "The wolf has blown our houses down! Please can we stay here?" "Of course, my house is made of brick, it’s safe for sure," he replied. Together, they devised a clever plan to outsmart the wolf.
The big bad wolf approached the brick house. "Hey, little pig, let me in," he demanded. "No, no, not by the hair on my chinny chin chin," came the response. "Then I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house in," he threatened once more. The wolf huffed and puffed, but the house stood strong. Frustrated, he decided to enter through the chimney.
The three little pigs knew the wolf's plan. They had prepared a kettle of boiling water over the fire. As the wolf came down the chimney, they removed the lid. The hot steam reached him, and with a terrified howl, he shot back up the chimney. "Ouch, ouch, ouch! Oh you pigs! I will get you some day!" he cried, running away. The big bad wolf never returned, and the three smart little pigs lived happily ever after in their sturdy brick house.
