Nathan sat on his bed, staring at the ceiling. The argument with his mother, Sarah, replayed in his mind like an endless loop. He had yelled, she had cried, and now he felt a gnawing regret. "Why doesn't she understand?" he whispered to himself, scrolling aimlessly through his phone.
Nathan's thumb hovered over the app. It was titled "ChronoRewind." Curiosity piqued, he tapped it. The app's interface unfolded with vibrant colors and swirling animations. Nathan leaned closer, his heart quickening with each new screen. "What is this?" he wondered.
As Nathan read the instructions, realization dawned. This was a time travel app, offering him a chance to change the past. His eyes settled on a date—his mother's fifteenth birthday. "Prevent Sarah's biggest regret," the mission read.
Nathan took a deep breath, his finger hovering over the date. He thought of Sarah's laughter, her warmth, and the distance that had grown between them. "I can fix this," he murmured, determination hardening his resolve.
Nathan felt a rush of wind as his surroundings transformed. Suddenly, he was standing in a sunlit garden, vibrant with the colors of spring. Birds chirped merrily, and in the distance, a young Sarah played with her friends, unaware of the boy watching her.
Nathan approached cautiously, his heart pounding. He knew what he had to do—stop Sarah from accepting a dare that would lead to her biggest regret. "Hey, Sarah!" he called, his voice steady despite the nerves.
"Who are you?" the young Sarah asked, curiosity in her eyes.
"Just a friend," he replied, smiling. "I think you should reconsider that dare. Sometimes, it's okay to say no."
Nathan blinked, his phone dim in his hand. The app was gone, as if it had never existed. Yet, something had changed. He felt lighter, hopeful. Sarah knocked softly at his door, her voice gentle.
"Nathan, can we talk?" she asked.
"Yeah, Mom," Nathan replied, his heart swelling with a newfound understanding. "I'd like that."
