Timmy Troubles and Tommy Troubles stood side by side at the foot of the bus steps, each sporting a mop of fiery red hair and a constellation of freckles across their cheeks. The twins’ eyes glimmered with mischief as they took in the rows of wooden cabins and the sprawling lake sparkling in the distance. Counselors bustled about with clipboards, herding campers toward their assigned cabins. Tommy nudged his brother, a sly grin forming on his face.
"Bet you five marshmallows I can trick the counselors before lunch," Tommy whispered, and Timmy struggled to stifle a giggle.
A counselor with a ponytail and a whistle around her neck greeted the twins, then scanned her roster. Timmy was directed to Cabin Maple, while Tommy was sent to Cabin Cedar, on the other side of camp. The boys exchanged a look that communicated volumes—distance could not dampen their mischief. They quickly devised a plan to meet up after dinner at the flagpole.
"You think a few walls can keep us apart?" Timmy smirked as he hefted his duffel bag.
Tommy arrived first, crouching behind a bench, eyes darting for counselors. Soon Timmy tiptoed in, their faces lit with anticipation. Hushed voices carried as Tommy outlined his latest prank: sneaking into the main kitchen and tampering with the milk. The boys whispered, plotting every detail, their red hair glowing faintly in the moonlight.
"Tomorrow morning, no one will know what hit them," Tommy promised, his grin wide and wicked.
Timmy kept watch at the swinging doors while Tommy crept to the fridge and nudged the door open, just enough to let the cold air seep out. The boys slipped away as quietly as they had entered, hearts pounding with the thrill of their secret mission. Outside, the sky was beginning to blush pink, promising another day of adventure.
Suddenly, shrieks rang out as the first spoonfuls of sour milk hit unsuspecting tongues. Campers spat cereal across the tables, faces twisted in disgust and surprise. The counselors rushed about, trying to contain the mess as milk puddled on the wooden floor. Amid the chaos, Timmy and Tommy sat at different tables, struggling to keep straight faces.
"What on earth happened to the milk?" one counselor exclaimed, sniffing a carton with a curled lip.
No one could trace the prank back to the Troubles twins. Campers exchanged wild theories, the counselors scratched their heads, and the legend of the mysterious sour milk began to spread. Hidden behind a tree, the twins high-fived, their bond stronger than ever and their hearts full of mischief yet to come.
"Best camp ever," Tommy declared, a twinkle in his eye.
