Baba remained alert, his ears twitching at the slightest sound, ensuring no harm would come to his family. Nearby, Jazi, the mother wolf, nuzzled their playful pup, RuRu, reminding him of the dangers lurking near the water.
"Remember, RuRu, never stray too close to the water," Jazi cautioned.
"I promise, Mama," RuRu replied, though his eyes sparkled with the curiosity that often led him on adventures.
In the fading light, RuRu spotted a baby crocodile, its scales glistening like emeralds. The young crocodile, curious and unafraid, blinked up at him. Their eyes met, a silent understanding passing between them.
RuRu and the baby crocodile played with abandon, their laughter mingling with the night breeze. "Let's meet here every day," the baby crocodile suggested, its eyes twinkling with joy.
RuRu struggled against the current, his small body no match for the swirling waters. Fear gripped him as he fought to stay afloat, his cries for help swallowed by the rushing river.
The baby crocodile swam swiftly to RuRu, positioning itself beneath him. With a powerful flick of its tail, it lifted RuRu to the surface, guiding him back to the safety of the riverbank.
The mother crocodile approached silently. "I am surprised you did not harm the wolf," she remarked, her voice a mix of curiosity and admiration. Her gaze softened as she watched the two young creatures, their bond unbroken by the night's events.
Baba and Jazi realized that even the most unlikely of friendships could bring peace and understanding to their world. "Perhaps there's more to learn from them than we thought," Baba mused, a hint of a smile playing on his lips.
