Juhi sat cross-legged on her bed, a flashlight in one hand and a book about a brave knight in the other. Her room, filled with the comforting scent of her mother's lavender sachets, seemed to stand as a fortress against the blustery autumn night. The wind outside roared like a beast, eager to break in, but inside, her walls held strong.
Vyom lay tucked beneath a mountain of blankets, his wide eyes reflecting the flickering shadows from the window. His small voice trembled as he whispered, "Juhi, the wind… it sounds like a monster!"
Juhi leaped from her bed, her heart pounding with a mix of fear and excitement. "Nonsense, Vyom!" she declared, trying to channel the knight's bravery. "It's just the wind showing off how strong it is. Let's begin Operation Monster Hunt!"
With a giggle from Vyom, his fear momentarily forgotten, Juhi started her search. She shone her flashlight under the bed, around the corners, and into the closet, revealing only dust bunnies and winter coats. "See? No monsters here," she assured him.
Vyom pointed towards the window, his small finger trembling. "What about there?" he asked, eyes wide.
Juhi hesitated, the shadows outside weaving eerie patterns. She couldn't let Vyom see her fear. Pulling back the curtain, she shone the light into the dark, revealing the trees swaying wildly. "Look, Vyom, it's just the trees dancing in the wind. They're putting on a show just for you," she reassured him, though a shiver ran down her spine.
Juhi sat beside Vyom, taking his hand gently. "Sometimes, even I get scared of the dark," she admitted softly. "But thinking about happy things helps. Like when you built that amazing tower or when we saw the baby ducks at the park."
Vyom's face lit up with a smile. "The baby ducks!" he exclaimed.
Juhi smiled, squeezing his hand. "And remember, I'm always here for you. No matter how loud the wind howls, I'll chase the monsters away. Because that's what big sisters do."
Vyom snuggled closer, his eyelids growing heavy. "You're the best monster-chaser ever," he mumbled as sleep claimed him.
Juhi watched over him, content. The shadows may have danced on the walls, and the wind may have howled, but within their little room, everything felt right. As long as they had each other, no monster, real or imagined, could ever truly scare them away.
