Little Bit stood on the edge of the dock, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. Her papa, Henry, joined her, holding an old but sturdy fishing rod. "Do you think we'll really catch it today, Papa?" she asked, her voice a mixture of excitement and doubt. "If we're patient and lucky, we might just meet the legend of these waters," he replied with a twinkle in his eye, casting the line into the lake that mirrored the morning sky.
Little Bit watched the float with unwavering concentration. Suddenly, it bobbed and dipped below the surface. "I got one!" she exclaimed, reeling in her catch with determination.
Henry helped her pull a small, shimmering fish from the water. "A fine start," he said, releasing it back into the lake. "But our wishful friend is still out there, waiting."
As they waited for another bite, Henry shared the story of the wish-granting fish, a tale passed down through generations. "They say it's as old as the lake itself, with scales that glisten like stars and the power to grant a single wish," he narrated. Little Bit listened intently, her imagination painting pictures of the mythical creature beneath the surface. "What would you wish for, Papa?" she asked, curious.
Just as Henry was about to answer, the line tugged fiercely. Little Bit grabbed the rod, her heart racing. Together, they struggled against the pull, each determined not to let go.
"Steady now, keep it steady," Henry encouraged, his hands guiding hers. The water churned as their catch came into view—a magnificent fish, its scales indeed shimmering like stars.
Little Bit and Henry gazed in awe at the legendary fish. It was larger than expected, its eyes wise and knowing. "It's really real," she whispered, breathless with wonder.
"Make your wish, Little Bit," Henry said softly. Little Bit closed her eyes, her heart speaking the wish that mattered most.
As the fish slipped back into the depths, the air seemed to hum with magic. Little Bit held her papa's hand, feeling the weight of her wish in the gentle squeeze. "Thank you, Papa," she said, her voice filled with gratitude. Henry smiled, seeing the joy reflected in her eyes. "The best wishes are the ones that come from the heart," he replied, knowing that their adventure had granted them something far greater than any legendary fish.
