Max, a small boy with chocolate-brown eyes, sits cross-legged, clutching his favorite stuffed bear. He gazes nervously at the red balloon above him, its string dangling just out of reach. Outside the window, the sounds of birds chirping and a distant school bell fill the air. "I wish my tummy didn’t feel so twisty," he whispers, watching the balloon bob gently.
Mrs. Lee, a warm-hearted teacher with a gentle smile, kneels beside Max. "It’s okay to feel a little worried on your first day. Would you like to walk in together?" Max nods, gripping her hand tightly as his balloon shivers in the breeze. The school doors loom ahead, but Mrs. Lee’s calm presence makes them seem less scary.
Max[/@ch_1], pulsing slightly as he watches other children laughing and sharing crayons.]
Sophie, a friendly girl with curly hair and sparkly shoes, offers Max a green crayon. "Do you want to draw with me?" Max hesitates, glancing at his balloon, but then nods shyly. As he begins to draw, the balloon shrinks just a tiny bit, its color growing softer.
"What if I have bad dreams?" he whispers, voice trembling. The balloon wobbles uncertainly in the air. His mom peeks in, her face gentle in the silver light, and sits beside him, stroking his hair. Mom shows him how to take deep, slow breaths together, filling the room with calm.
Mrs. Lee[/@ch_2] gathers the children on a round rug. She holds a bright blue balloon and demonstrates a slow, deep breath, letting the balloon float up with each exhale.]
"When you feel worried, close your eyes and take a big, gentle breath. Imagine your worry balloon getting smaller and lighter," she says softly. Max squeezes his eyes shut, inhales deeply, and pictures his red balloon shrinking with every breath. The balloon wobbles, then slowly starts to deflate, hovering closer to the ceiling.
Max[/@ch_1] faces the tall slide, his worry balloon a faint pink whisper above him. He places his hand on his chest, breathing in and out just like Mrs. Lee taught. With each breath, the balloon becomes thinner and lighter, until it gently floats up and away into the sky.]
Sophie waves from the top of the slide. "Come on, Max! You can do it!" Smiling, Max climbs the steps, feeling brave and light as a balloon himself, his worries drifting far above the clouds.
