Milo stands guard, arms crossed and eyebrows scrunched in his most serious face, though his fluffiness makes him look more adorable than tough.
"WAIT! What are you doing here? This book is NOT for you. It's only for professional monster readers — the bravest, the smartest, and the silliest ones! You? Hmm... You don’t look like a professional monster reader to me. Tell you what — if you REALLY think you’re ready, you’ll have to pass a few little tests. But I’m warning you: they are super hard. (And maybe a little bit silly.) Are you sure you still want to turn the page? Seriously? Okay… but don’t say I didn’t warn you!"
Milo paces back and forth, tail twitching as he tries to look intimidating.
"Alright, first test! Can you wiggle your eyebrows up and down three times without laughing? Go on, I’m watching! Oh, you’re doing it? Really? No giggles yet? Hmph. Fine, maybe you ARE a little brave. But don’t get too confident — the next test is even sillier!"
Milo gives the wheel a mighty spin, watching as it clatters to a stop.
"Here’s your riddle: What do you call a monster who loves to dance? A boogie-monster! Did you guess it? No? Yes? Either way, you’re still here, aren’t you? Hmph. You must be the silliest reader I’ve met yet. But can you handle the next challenge?"
Milo peeks out, clutching a gold star sticker behind his back.
"Last test! Make your silliest face right now — the one only monsters and professional readers make. Hold it! Wow, that’s even sillier than mine! …Not bad. Not bad at all. I mean, it’s okay, I guess. But only because you’re almost as silly as me."
Milo stands tall, finally letting his goofy grin shine.
"Alright, you did it. You passed all my tests, even the weirdest ones! I guess… I guess you really ARE a professional monster reader. Welcome to the club! But promise me one thing: whenever you read a book, always bring your bravest, silliest, and smartest self. Oh, and maybe a monster friend or two. Now, turn the page — if you dare!"
Milo offers a shy high-five, his crooked smile wide as ever.
"Thanks for playing with me. I hope you come back soon — I’ll have even sillier challenges waiting! Until then, keep reading, keep laughing, and remember: this book is totally for you."
