Ella, a curious girl with red braids, hops out of the boat, her sneakers splashing in the shallow water. Beside her is Leo, a boy with glasses and a big backpack, and Maya, younger and adventurous, clutching a stuffed bear.
"I can't wait to explore! Let's find some cool rocks,"
"We should stay close to the boat so we don't get lost,"
"Maple Island is like a jungle! I'm not scared,"
Ella points at the boat, her eyes wide with worry. Leo fumbles with his backpack, searching for his map.
"Oh no! The boat is floating away!"
"Without the boat, we can't get home. We need a plan,"
"Maybe someone will see us and help,"
Ella tries to climb a boulder to see farther, while Maya gathers sticks for a pretend campfire. Leo looks frustrated when no one answers.
"It's no use. No one can hear us,"
"We should work together instead of just yelling,"
"We can build a big sign out of rocks! Birds will see it from the sky,"
Ella directs where to place the rocks. Leo draws in the dirt to make the letters big and clear. Maya finds colorful wildflowers to decorate the edges.
"This is looking great! We’re a good team,"
"If we help each other, we can do anything,"
"I like working together,"
The boat draws closer, and a friendly park ranger waves back. He spots the sign and steers toward them, smiling.
"Over here! We’re here!"
"He saw us because we worked together,"
"We did it!"
Ella leans against Leo, and Maya snuggles her stuffed bear, all feeling proud.
"I’m glad we helped each other,"
"Teamwork makes everything better,"
"Next time, let’s tie up the boat,"
The children smile, knowing they can face anything as long as they work together.
