Tom stands at the doorway, his backpack slung over his shoulder, watching his mother unlock the family car. The neighborhood is still sleepy, the air filled with the scent of fresh grass. Tom climbs into the back seat, peering out the window as they begin the short drive to school, the engine humming softly beneath them.
Tom bounces with excitement as his mother lists the adventures ahead. "Are we really going to fly in an airplane, ride a boat, and even a horse?" His mother smiles, folding a shirt neatly. "Yes, Tom! This holiday is going to be full of surprises." The room echoes with laughter and the promise of journeys just beyond the horizon.
Tom grips his boarding pass tightly as he stares in awe at the massive airplane outside the window. The moment they step aboard, he presses his nose to the window, watching the world shrink away as the engines roar. "We're flying above the clouds, Mom! I can see the whole world!"
Tom climbs aboard, choosing a seat by the window to watch the fields roll by. Later, they switch to a taxi, its dashboard lined with tiny souvenirs, weaving through busy town streets. "Every place looks different from a new seat," he muses, eyes wide as the world rushes past.
Tom steps carefully onto a small boat, clutching the rails as it rocks beneath his feet. The boatman waves and soon they glide across the shining surface, the rhythmic lapping of water calming Tom’s eager heart. "It feels like we’re floating on sunlight," he whispers.
Tom pedals the bicycle, laughter echoing in the open air as his mother rides beside him. Later, guided by a friendly farmer, he climbs onto the horse’s back, clutching the mane with both hands. "I’ve tried every kind of ride now!" he exclaims, as the horse trots softly down the lane, hooves thudding in the warm dust.
Tom gazes at the horizon, his heart full from all the day’s wonders. "I never knew there were so many ways to travel, Mom. Every one felt special," he says, leaning against her. His mother wraps an arm around him, and they watch as the last light fades, dreaming of journeys yet to come.
