Rory sighed deeply, staring at his sneakers in frustration. "Why is this so hard?" he muttered, tugging at the laces with little success. The sun warmed his face, but his determination was unwavering.
"Rory, would you like some help with those shoelaces?"[/@ch_2_d] [@ch_2]Grandma June asked, her voice soothing. Rory nodded eagerly, his eyes lighting up at the prospect of learning something new.
"First, you make a cross," she instructed, her fingers nimble and sure. Rory watched intently, his small hands mimicking hers. "Now, create a loop and wrap the other lace around it," she continued, encouraging him to try.
Rory tried again, his fingers fumbling but determined. "Like this, Grandma?" he asked, his voice a mix of excitement and uncertainty. "Exactly, Rory! You're getting it!" Grandma June replied, her pride evident.
"I did it, Grandma! I tied my shoes!" Rory exclaimed, jumping up with joy. "I knew you could," Grandma June said, wrapping him in a warm hug.
"Watch out, everyone! Rory's got his running shoes on!" one of the kids shouted. Rory grinned, feeling confident and free, his untied laces no longer holding him back.
