Emma sat cross-legged on the floor, her little heart feeling heavy with questions she didn't know how to ask. Her parents, Mom and Dad, were seated on the couch, their faces kind but serious. "Emma, we want to talk to you about something important," Mom began gently.
"You know how sometimes friends need to spend time apart to do things they enjoy?" Dad said softly. Emma nodded slowly, thinking of her own friends at school. "Well, your dad and I have decided we need to live in different homes, but we both love you very much," Mom added, her voice steady but with a hint of sadness.
"Does this mean you won't be my mom and dad anymore?" Emma asked, her voice trembling slightly. "Oh no, sweetie," Dad replied quickly. "We will always be your mom and dad, and we will both be there for you, just in different ways," Mom reassured, wrapping Emma in a comforting hug.
"Will I have two rooms now?" Emma asked, a hint of excitement in her voice. "Yes, and you can decorate them however you like," Dad smiled, relieved to see his daughter finding something positive in the situation. "And we'll make sure to keep all your favorite things at both places," Mom added.
"I guess it will be like having two homes instead of one," Emma said thoughtfully. "Exactly, and we'll make sure both homes are filled with fun and love," Dad assured her. The family sat together, feeling a bit stronger, knowing they could face this new change with love and understanding.
"Remember, Emma, no matter what changes, our love for you stays the same," Mom whispered. Emma nodded, feeling the warmth of her parents' embrace and the certainty of their words. With a yawn, she leaned against Dad, ready to face tomorrow with her family's love guiding her way.
