Luna pulled her covers up to her chin, her wide eyes scanning the shadows in her room. She clutched her favorite stuffed bear, listening to the sound of distant crickets outside. The world seemed peaceful, but the space beneath her bed always felt a little too dark and mysterious.
Curiosity got the better of Luna, so she leaned over the edge of her bed, holding her breath. To her amazement, she saw a tiny horn glimmering in the darkness—a silvery glow among the shadows. Two big, shimmering eyes blinked back at her, and a tuft of rainbow mane peeked out shyly.
Twinkle, the little unicorn, hid behind a stack of blocks, looking frightened but curious. Luna whispered softly, "Hello… are you a real unicorn?" The unicorn’s tiny voice trembled as it replied, "Please don’t be scared! I’m Twinkle, and I’m hiding because I’m afraid of humans."
Luna gently crawled under the bed, careful not to scare Twinkle further. "I get scared too," she admitted quietly. "Really? But you’re so big and brave," said Twinkle. "Sometimes the dark makes my heart thump," Luna shared, and Twinkle nodded in understanding.
"Maybe if we’re together, we can be brave," suggested Twinkle, her horn twinkling brighter. "Let’s try it," said Luna, squeezing her new friend’s hoof. Together, they peeked into every shadow, giggling when they found only dust bunnies and socks, not monsters.
When dawn arrived, Luna yawned and stretched, feeling a warm glow in her heart. Twinkle flicked her tail, no longer afraid of humans—at least, not of this one. "Will you come back tonight?" Luna asked, and "Of course! We’re brave together now," answered Twinkle, as a new friendship sparkled in the morning light.
