Lila, her dark hair pulled back with a sparkly clip, leans forward, eyes wide with excitement. Nestled in the shadows is a unicorn, its silvery coat shimmering, a spiraled horn glinting in the sunlight. The unicorn blinks, startled, but doesn’t run.
"Hello, are you lost? I’ve never seen a unicorn before,"
The Unicorn, shy and elegant, watches her warily, hoof pawing at the grass.
Lila opens the lid, revealing jars of rainbow glitter. She sprinkles a little onto her palm, holding it out.
"Look! My favorite thing—sparkles! Do you want some on your mane?"
The Unicorn sniffs, nose twitching, uncertain. Suddenly, it sneezes—a magical, booming sneeze that sends glitter flying everywhere.
Lila giggles, but the unicorn’s nose crinkles again, and another sneeze erupts, even bigger than before. The swing set and cherry tree are coated in dazzling sparkles.
"Oh no! Are you okay? I didn’t mean to make you sneeze!"
"Achoo! I’m allergic to glitter!" The unicorn’s voice is gentle but wobbly, each word trailing sparkles.
Children rush outside, laughing, as sparkling rain falls from the sky. Lila stands beside the unicorn, worried but amazed by the spectacle.
"I wanted to share something beautiful, but I didn’t know you were allergic,"
"It’s alright. It happens sometimes, but it’s quite a scene," The unicorn shakes, sending another shower of sparkles.
Lila gently brushes the unicorn’s mane, careful not to use glitter. She offers a flower instead, weaving it into the unicorn’s hair.
"I’ll remember—no glitter next time. Flowers are pretty too,"
"Thank you, Lila. I like flowers much better," The unicorn smiles, nuzzling her gently.
Lila watches her friend disappear into the gathering shadows, her purple dress bright against the twinkling lawn. She feels magic in her heart, knowing she has made a true friend—one who prefers flowers to glitter.
"Goodbye, unicorn. I hope you come back soon,"
"I will, Lila. And next time, bring flowers," comes the soft reply, echoing in the evening air.
