Wally the Whale floated near his family, watching a group of dolphins twist and twirl in the distance. He pressed his fins together, wishing he could leap and spin just like them. "I wish I could be a dolphin. They look like they're having so much fun," he sighed, his big blue eyes full of longing.
Wally glanced back at his family, feeling nervous but hopeful. "Maybe if I find the dolphins, I can be one of them," he whispered, pushing forward with a determined swish of his tail. Tiny fish darted out of his way, and curious crabs peeked from coral reefs as he passed by.
The Dolphin School gathered around, their eyes wide as they noticed Wally. "Who is that? He’s way too big to be a dolphin!" giggled one. "Why is he here? He can’t swim like us!" teased another. Wally tried to smile, but their laughter stung, and he felt out of place.
Flippy the Dolphin hovered beside Wally, offering a gentle smile. "Don’t listen to them, Wally. You’re special in your own way. Want to swim with me?" Wally’s eyes lit up with surprise and hope. "You really want to be my friend?" he asked. "Of course! Let’s show everyone what you can do," Flippy replied.
Flippy cheered, "Look at you go, Wally! That was the biggest jump I’ve ever seen!" Wally grinned wide, feeling proud for the first time. The dolphins began to clap their fins and smile, realizing how much fun Wally could be. "Maybe being different isn’t so bad after all," said one dolphin, joining in the fun.
Flippy nudged Wally. "We might look different, but we both love to jump and play. We both have families who care about us. And best of all, we both love making friends," she said. Wally beamed, feeling loved and accepted. "I guess I don’t need to be a dolphin. I just need to be me," he said, and everyone cheered as the last rays of sunlight danced on the water.
