Max bounced on the edge of the sofa, unable to contain his eagerness. "When will she get here, Mom?" he asked, his voice tinged with impatience. Emma, who was sprawled on the armchair with her phone, glanced up with a smile. "Soon, Max. Dad's just picking her up," she reassured him. Their mother, a kind woman with a gentle smile, was arranging a small basket filled with toys and treats for their new family member.
Lucy, the golden retriever puppy, wiggled and squirmed in his embrace, her tail wagging furiously. "Everyone, meet Lucy!" he announced, kneeling to let the puppy down onto the floor. Lucy stumbled a little, her fluffy paws slipping on the polished wood, eliciting laughter from the entire family.
Max was the first to join Lucy on the floor, his eyes wide with delight. "Look at her go!" he cheered, reaching out to playfully ruffle her ears. Meanwhile, Emma snapped pictures with her phone, capturing Lucy's every adorable move. "She's going to be Insta-famous," she joked, showing her mom the photos.
Their father, sitting cross-legged on the floor, watched Lucy chase after a squeaky toy. "I have a feeling she's going to keep us on our toes," he said with a chuckle. Their mother nodded, a soft smile on her face. "She's going to bring so much joy into our lives," she agreed, watching as Lucy, now a little tired, plopped down next to Max.
Max leaned back, staring at the ceiling dreamily. "I can't wait to take her to the park," he said, his voice filled with anticipation. Emma nodded, "And maybe teach her some cool tricks," she added, already envisioning the fun they would have.
Lucy curled up in a cozy dog bed placed by the fireplace, her eyes slowly closing as she drifted into sleep. Her new family watched her with affection, knowing that this was just the beginning of a wonderful journey together. "Welcome home, Lucy," Max whispered, his heart full of love for their newest family member.
