Alexander shifted his tiny paws nervously, his whiskers twitching as he looked around. Pigley, his best friend and a plump pink toy pig, was nowhere to be seen. The silence felt heavy, broken only by the distant tick of a wall clock. "Where could Pigley have gone? He never misses breakfast," Alexander wondered aloud, determination flickering in his eyes.
Alexander scurried over to the kitchen, following the crumbly trail with hope. He inspected the cookie, noticing little bite marks that looked suspiciously like Pigley's handiwork. "Pigley must have been here... but where did he go next?" he murmured, glancing around for more clues.
Alexander padded softly past the strawberries, spotting jelly smears leading away from the picnic. He paused, noticing a faint imprint of Pigley's round snout on a slice of toy bread. "Pigley loves strawberry jam... Maybe he went this way," Alexander said, encouraged by the evidence.
Climbing carefully, Alexander peeked inside the tunnels, searching for any sign of his friend. Echoes bounced back to him, and he thought he heard a faint giggle. "Pigley, are you in there? It's me, Alexander!" he called, his voice full of hope.
Following the frosting, Alexander squeezed behind the cushion, heart pounding with anticipation. Suddenly, he spotted a familiar curled tail poking out from beneath a cupcake. "Pigley! Is that you?" he exclaimed, nearly tripping over his excitement.
Pigley emerged, cheeks dusted with pretend frosting, and squealed in delight. "Alexander! I was looking for the last cupcake, but I got sleepy and hid here," Pigley explained with a sheepish grin. "I was so worried about you. Next time, let's search for cupcakes together," Alexander replied, hugging his friend. The two toys giggled, their friendship sweeter than any treat in the playroom.
