Sam sits cross-legged on the soft carpet, tracing patterns on the floor with a finger. All around, the toys are neatly arranged, waiting for someone to join in the fun. The air is filled with a hopeful longing, heavy yet gentle, as if the whole room is holding its breath.
"Sometimes I wish someone would just knock on my door and say, 'Hey, can I play with you?'," Sam murmurs softly, glancing at the empty chair across the room. He listens to the distant sound of laughter outside, wishing that even once, it could be meant for him.
Sam studies his own reflection, searching for answers. "I'm not a bad person. I just don't know what to say sometimes. Maybe that's why people don't want to be my friend," he wonders aloud, voice trembling with honesty.
"But I love to play. I want to laugh and share secrets too," Sam says, pressing a palm to the cool glass. The room feels filled with silent wishes, each one drifting up like invisible balloons.

Sam clasps the bear close, whispering his secret wishes into its fuzzy ear. "Do you think someone will ever ask me to be their friend? I promise I would be a good one," he confides, voice small but full of hope.
"I know I'm quiet, but that's just who I am. I don't want to hurt anyone. I just want someone to understand," Sam continues, a gentle smile breaking through the shyness.

Sam takes a deep breath and begins to write, every word a step toward someone new. "Be my friend. I am lonely and a quiet person. Therefore no one wants to be my friend. I am not a bad person and I don't want to hurt anyone," he writes, the words flowing with honesty and hope.
"I know I am not funny or very active but there is no problem with me, it is my personality. I love to have friends like any other kid. I love to play, laugh and engage with others too. So will you be my friend? I know we will be very good friends," Sam finishes, signing his name with a flourish of newfound courage.
Sam gazes out the window, heart fluttering with anticipation. The world outside is waking up, full of possibilities and new beginnings. He knows he has done something brave, and that maybe, just maybe, someone will answer his call.
Sam smiles, hope shining in his eyes, as the first rays of sunlight dance across the floor. Today feels different—lighter, warmer, and full of the chance for friendship.
