Willow the Bunny hops nervously to the edge of the ice, gripping a tiny wooden hockey stick with blue tape on the handle. Her ears stand tall, and her fluffy tail peeks from her jersey with the number one. Today is her very first hockey game, and butterflies flutter in her tummy as friends and family cheer from the sidelines.
"I hope I remember everything Coach taught me," she whispers, looking at her reflection in the shiny ice.
Coach Hoots the Owl, wearing a whistle around his neck, calls out encouragement. Finn the Fox skates by Willow, giving her a friendly wink, while Ruby the Raccoon taps her stick on the ice. "Remember, team! Have fun, help each other, and keep your sticks on the ice!"
"I'll try my best, Coach!" Willow replies, her nerves easing as her friends laugh and skate in circles.
Finn the Fox dashes for the puck, while Ruby the Raccoon guards the goal. Willow takes a deep breath and skates carefully after the puck, gripping her stick tightly. She slips a little but quickly finds her balance, determination shining in her eyes.
"I can do this!" she says as she joins the chase.
Willow blinks in surprise, then giggles as she makes a snow angel with her paws. Finn skates over and offers his paw, while Ruby returns her stick. "Are you okay, Willow?"
"I'm okay! Hockey is slippery, but I can get back up," Willow replies with a grin, feeling braver than before.
Willow sees an opening and calls out to Ruby. "Over here, Ruby!" Ruby passes the puck, and Willow lines up her stick, sending the puck sliding toward the goal as the crowd holds its breath.
Coach Hoots flutters down, beaming with pride. "Well done, Willow! You were brave, you helped your team, and you never gave up,"
"Thank you, Coach! That was the best game ever," Willow says, her nose wiggling with joy. The animals gather for a team photo on the ice, every friend holding a hockey stick and smiling wide—a perfect memory of Willow's first hockey game.
