Ziggy pressed the shell to his ear, its gentle blue light pulsing. Today, the ocean seemed extra alive—gulls soared overhead and tiny crabs scuttled between seashells. Ziggy’s dad winked from under his sunhat, always ready for beachside fun.
"Do you think Marina will call today?"
"The sea’s full of surprises, kiddo. Just listen close,"
Marina the Seahorse Princess’s voice rings out, tinged with worry.
"Ziggy! We need your help again. A storm scattered the coral garden, and now the baby fish have nowhere to hide!"
Ziggy’s eyes widen as he glances at the swirling light in the shell.
"Hang on, Marina! I’ll be there as fast as a sea breeze,"
"Remember, waves are just water hugs from the sea!"
Ziggy takes a deep breath and paddles out, following the shell’s glowing light. Suddenly, a swirl of bubbles surrounds him, and with a whoosh, he’s whisked beneath the surface—breathing easily and seeing colors brighter than rainbows. Coral towers rise and sway, but many are toppled, and tiny fish peek out, nervous.
"Whoa! I’m back in Marina’s world,"
"Ziggy, we need to rebuild the coral maze so the baby fish can hide from the big grouper! But the coral is heavy, and Inky’s old trash is still stuck everywhere,"
Ziggy nods, remembering his basketball skills.
"Let’s work as a team! Crab, can you snip the seaweed? Turtle, help me lift the coral. I’ll toss the trash into the big kelp-net,"
The ocean fills with giggles and teamwork as everyone pitches in.
Ziggy steadies his aim, heart pounding, as he spots a stubborn plastic ring wedged in a coral nook. He remembers how he distracted Inky once before.
"Marina, can you dazzle the grouper with your shiny tail for a second?"
"On it, Ziggy!"
With the grouper mesmerized, Ziggy tosses the trash perfectly into the kelp-net, freeing the coral and letting the baby fish dart to safety.
"Thank you, Ziggy. Whenever the ocean needs a hero, this charm will guide you back,"
Ziggy waves goodbye, heart full, as the shell’s magic sweeps him back to the surface. He tumbles onto the sand, laughing, where his dad is waiting with two sprinkle-covered ice cream cones and a wink.
"You must’ve had quite the adventure, champ,"
"I wonder what the next adventure will be,"
"With you and that magic shell, the sea’s got its bravest friend,"
Waves lap the shore, full of secrets and hugs, promising that magic is always just beneath the surface.
