Haruto was buried in a mountain of reports, his fingers tapping furiously on the keyboard. The sudden sound of clinking glasses drew his attention to Miyu, a bright spark in the office, waving her arms to gather everyone’s attention.
"Guess what, everyone? We're going to the beach this weekend!"
The announcement was met with a chorus of cheers and surprised gasps. Sora, known for his competitive spirit, stood up with a grin.
"I hope you're ready for some volleyball, Haruto!"
Haruto chuckled, feeling the anticipation bubble up inside him.
The group arrived in high spirits, arms laden with beach towels, umbrellas, and cooler bags. Miyu immediately raced to the water, her laughter mingling with the sound of the sea.
Haruto set up an umbrella, glancing over at Sora, who was already eyeing a spot for a volleyball net.
"Come on, Haruto! The water's perfect!" called Miyu, her excitement infectious.
Haruto hesitated, then smiled, allowing himself to relax and join her.
Sora tossed a volleyball in the air, his eyes glinting with determination.
"Let's see what you've got, Haruto!"
Haruto laughed, shaking off the office stress and surrendering to the playful competition. The game was fast-paced, with laughter and good-natured jeers echoing around them.
Miyu cheered from the sidelines, clapping her hands as the ball flew back and forth.
Haruto sat quietly, watching the waves glow under the fading light. Miyu joined him, her expression soft and contemplative.
"It's nice to forget about work for a while, isn't it?" she said, her voice just above a whisper.
Haruto nodded, feeling a sense of peace wash over him.
"Yeah, I needed this," he admitted, glancing at Sora, who was busy telling an animated story to the others.
Miyu leaned closer to Haruto, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
"You know, I think Sora might have a crush on someone," she teased, her voice low.
Haruto raised an eyebrow, intrigued but also amused.
"And who would that be?" he asked, playing along.
Miyu just smiled, leaving the question hanging in the air between them.
Haruto felt a sense of camaraderie as they made their way back to the cars, the echoes of laughter and shared stories lingering.
Sora clapped a hand on Haruto's shoulder.
"Thanks for the game, Haruto. We should do this more often," he said, sincerity lacing his words.
Haruto nodded, a genuine smile on his face.
"Definitely. It was a good day," he agreed, feeling grateful for this unexpected escape from the daily grind.
