Clara, a plucky red hen with a bright comb, hops down from her perch, scanning the yard with keen eyes. Benny, a chubby white rooster, struts beside her, chest puffed out. "Today feels special, Benny. Can you feel it in the air?"
"It does, Clara! Maybe it’s time for a new adventure," Benny replies, his tail feathers fanning with excitement.
Milly, a small speckled hen, pecks curiously at the stump’s base. Gus, a lanky rooster with a crooked beak, flaps his wings to call for attention. "Friends! Let’s do something together today. Not just scratch for worms—let’s make real memories!"
"I’d love that! Maybe a race around the yard, or a story circle?" Milly chirps, her eyes sparkling.
"Let’s have a feather-finding challenge! Whoever collects the most beautiful feathers wins a seat at the highest perch tonight," Clara announces, her voice ringing clear.
"I accept! And may the best chicken win," Benny declares, bounding off with determination. The flock scatters, laughter and clucks filling the air.
"Need a wing, Milly?" Gus asks, gently nudging the bramble aside.
"Thanks, Gus! I couldn’t have reached it alone," Milly replies, beaming as she adds the feather to her collection. Around them, other chickens start helping one another, camaraderie blooming.
"Look at all these beautiful feathers! But what’s even more beautiful is how we helped each other," Clara says, her eyes shining with pride.
"Agreed! Today, we all win. Friends of a feather, together forever," Benny proclaims, raising his wings in triumph.
"I’m so glad we shared today," Milly whispers, her voice sleepy but happy.
"Me too. Here’s to many more adventures, friends," Gus murmurs, as the flock settles in, united by the bonds they’ve forged.
