Jake sits hunched on the edge of his bed, fingers twisting anxiously in his lap, while his best friend Bill lounges in a beanbag chair nearby, flipping a silver pocket watch between his fingers.
"I don’t know, Bill. College just feels... huge. Like, what if I mess everything up?"
"You got in on a scholarship, Jake. You deserve this. But if you want, I’ll help you relax," Bill says with a reassuring grin.
Bill[/@ch_2] begins to gently swing the pocket watch. The rhythmic movement catches the light, casting tiny glimmers that dance over the room’s posters and shelves.]
"Just watch the watch, Jake. Take a deep breath and let yourself relax," Bill intones, his voice low and steady.
Jake nods, his eyes growing heavy, body slowly sinking into the mattress.
"When I count down from three, you’ll be in a deep, peaceful trance. Ready?"
"Ready..."
"Three... two... one," Bill murmurs, and Jake closes his eyes, drifting into a gentle sleep.
Bill[/@ch_2] sits up straighter, glancing at his friend as Jake breathes deeply, eyes closed, brow unknotted.]
"Jake, why are you scared to go to college?" Bill asks softly.
"I’m... I’m still a bedwetter. I’m worried I won’t pass, that I won’t move on with my life," Jake confesses, voice trembling but honest.
Bill nods thoughtfully, pausing to let the admission settle in the room’s gentle light.
Bill[/@ch_2]’s face. He leans forward, the pocket watch resting on his knee, his tone firm but kind.]
"Jake, I’ll be your only roommate if that’s what you need. Anyone else wouldn’t care, and honestly, you’re going to move on with your life. You’re stronger than you think," Bill assures him.
Jake stirs slightly, comforted by the words even in his trance.
"I just wonder why you still wear those nerdy tighty-whites," Bill teases, breaking the tension with a gentle laugh.
Jake’s breathing evens out, a faint smile appearing as the weight of his secret is met not with judgment but with friendship.
Bill puts the pocket watch aside, ready to gently wake his friend with newfound hope.
"Whatever happens, I’ve got your back. College is just another adventure, and you’re not alone,"
Bill taps Jake’s shoulder, helping him rouse from his trance.
Jake blinks slowly, stretching as he sits up, a sense of calm replacing his former anxiety.
"Thanks, Bill. I think I’m ready to face college now,"
"You always were, Jake. Let’s get packing,"
