Silly Squid[/@ch_1], eyes the trees where his arch-enemy, the clever Chipmunk, darts between branches.]
Silly Squid wriggles his tentacles with anticipation, plotting his latest prank. The memory of Chipmunk's past tricks plays on his mind all year, fueling his mischievous resolve. He watches as the chipmunk nimbly hides colorful eggs, a glint of rivalry in both their eyes.
"This year, I'll show that chipmunk who’s the prankster king of the woods," he whispers, a sly smile curling his beak.
Silly Squid[/@ch_1] stands over a plump Easter egg. The grass is dappled with sunlight, and the air smells of sweet flowers and fresh earth. He carefully pricks a tiny hole in the shell, expertly sucking out the yolk with a straw before cleaning it out.]
With a giggle, Silly Squid folds and contorts his body, squeezing his slippery form into the emptied eggshell. The shell rocks gently as he settles in, his tentacles squished but his spirits high. From inside, muffled giggles escape, and the egg rolls beneath a patch of bluebells, perfectly camouflaged among the others.
Chipmunk[/@ch_2] leads the charge with a basket in paw. Sunlight glimmers off the eggs hidden in moss and under leaves, and the air buzzes with excitement.]
Unbeknownst to them, Silly Squid waits, stifling laughter inside his shell. Minutes turn to hours, and the giggling slows, replaced by drowsiness. The egg remains undisturbed, half-buried in the grass, as the festivities move on.
Silly Squid[/@ch_1] still nestled inside, sits forgotten beneath a tangle of roots.]
Time blurs for Silly Squid, who slips from sleep into hibernation, dreaming of pranks and laughter. The shell grows brittle, moss creeps over it, and the world continues without him.
Chipmunk[/@ch_2], now a little older, searches for the perfect spot to hide an egg in his treehouse apartment.]
The forgotten egg, now streaked with age, begins to rock and wiggle. A faint giggle echoes from within as Silly Squid wakes, stretching his cramped tentacles. He hasn’t noticed the time that has passed.
Chipmunk[/@ch_2] examines his collection of eggs. He picks up the odd, mossy one, curiosity twitching in his whiskers. As he cracks it open, a sour, rotten smell fills the room.]
"Pooh wee! What on earth is that?"
With a triumphant burst, Silly Squid pops out, startling Chipmunk and sending acorns flying.
"Happy Easter, Chipmunk!"
"Silly Squid, you’ve been in that egg for years! The whole house smells like...well, old squid and rotten egg. That’s some dedication for an April Fools’ joke," Chipmunk says, pinching his nose.
Silly Squid[/@ch_1] shakes off the eggshell, wobbling a little older and wiser. The two sit together on a branch, the fresh air clearing away the worst of the smell.]
"You know, it’s not April Fool’s and Easter on the same day again until 2029," Chipmunk laughs, tail twitching.
"I suppose it was a rather silly idea to hide in an egg for so long," Silly Squid admits, but then grins, "April Fools anyway!"
"Happy, if somewhat smelly, Easter to you too, Squid," Chipmunk replies, both friends giggling as the breeze carries away the remnants of the prank.
