Riya stood near the dessert table, her eyes glistening with excitement. The gulab jamun, still warm and glistening with syrup, called to her from their gleaming silver bowl.
Rohan approached, hands tucked into his pockets but his expression one of playful caution.
"Rohan, can I please have some gulab jamun? Just one?" Riya pleaded, her voice laced with a mixture of hope and mischief.
"One? You'll eat the whole plate!" Rohan teased, his eyes twinkling with the same mischievousness.
"No, I promise! Just one. Please, please, please?" Riya insisted, bouncing on her toes with anticipation.
"Okay, okay. But if you even think about taking another one, I'm telling Mom," Rohan replied, feigning reluctance but unable to hide his grin.
"Yay! You're the best brother ever!" Riya exclaimed, her face lighting up with joy.
Riya took a small bite, savoring the sweet delight, while Rohan watched with a satisfied smile.
"It's so unfair. You get to eat all the yummy things, and I only get one," Riya sighed dramatically, eyeing the sweets longingly.
"You eat enough sweets already! You'll get cavities," Rohan chuckled, amused by her dramatic flair.
"But gulab jamun are so delicious! And it's Diwali!" Riya argued, her eyes pleading.
"Alright, alright. You can have one more. But only one more. And you have to share it with me," Rohan decided, his tone softening.
"Really?" Riya asked, her eyes widening with delight.
"Yeah. Deal?" Rohan confirmed, extending his hand.
"Deal!" Riya grinned, sealing the pact.
Together, they relished the gulab jamun, their laughter and shared joy a testament to the love and mischief that defined their sibling relationship.
