James blinked rapidly, staring at hands that were far too young. Across the room, Leon gaped at the mirror, touching stubble that wasn’t his. Their voices overlapped in disbelief, panic, and a hint of awe as they realized what had happened.
"Dad? Is that really you in my body?"
"Leon...we need to talk. No one will believe this."
James, now in Leon’s body, pours coffee with trembling hands while Leon, inhabiting his father’s body, adjusts to the heaviness of a suit jacket. The two speak quietly, weighing their options, finally agreeing to swap identities for the day—an unspoken trust forming between them.
"You’ll have to go to court for me. Just do your best. And I’ll try to survive high school,"
"I think I can handle being a lawyer for a day. How hard can it be?"
Leon—in James’ body—runs his fingers over the luxurious fabrics, marveling at the difference from his usual jeans and hoodies. He chooses a navy suit, sliding the white dress shirt over his shoulders, enjoying the smoothness of the cloth. Trousers are next, then the shirt tucked in, each movement growing more confident.
"This feels... expensive. Dad always did have good taste,"
Leon loops the necktie around his collar, hands moving almost automatically. He fumbles for a moment, then muscle memory guides him through the Prince Albert knot, just as he’d seen his father do countless times. Slipping on the suit jacket, he straightens the lapels and studies his reflection, a mix of pride and nervous anticipation flickering across his face.
"I look like I could run the world,"
Leon grabs James’ briefcase, glancing one last time at his father—now in his teenage body—who offers an encouraging nod. Their silent exchange is full of hope and anxiety, each knowing the day ahead could change them forever.
"Good luck, son. Try not to get me fired,"
"And you, Dad—don’t embarrass me at school,"
Leon, dressed impeccably, steps out into the day’s challenges, his heart pounding but determined. James watches him go, steeling himself for the unfamiliar halls of high school. Both know their lives have shifted, but the adventure has only just begun.
