Ethan Parker, a lanky teenager with unruly brown hair and an easygoing smile, sauntered down the hallway, his backpack slung carelessly over one shoulder. As he approached his locker, he caught sight of Jake, his best friend, leaning against it with a mischievous grin.
"Hey, Ethan, you ready for gym class? Heard Coach has a new surprise for us today," Jake teased, his eyes twinkling with excitement.
"As ready as I'll ever be," Ethan replied, trying to ignore the slight nervousness knotting in his stomach.
Mark, the school jock, sauntered past, his presence commanding attention. Ethan hesitated as he pulled off his jeans, revealing his bright, cartoon-themed underwear—an embarrassing relic from his childhood he had forgotten to replace.
"Nice undies, Parker!" Mark snorted, his voice echoing off the walls as laughter erupted around them.
"Yeah, real funny," Ethan muttered, his cheeks burning with humiliation as he hurriedly pulled on his gym shorts.
Jake jogged over to Ethan, clapping him on the back reassuringly. "Don't sweat it, man. Everyone's got something they're embarrassed about," he said with a knowing nod.
Ethan managed a smile, grateful for his friend's support. "Thanks, Jake. I guess it could have been worse," he replied, feeling a little lighter as they joined the rest of the class.
Ethan walked beside Jake, feeling a newfound confidence. Despite the morning's embarrassment, he realized it was just a small blip in the grand scheme of things.
"Maybe next time I'll wear something a bit less... colorful," Ethan joked, earning a laugh from Jake as they headed towards the exit.
