Benny, a lanky man with a battered bowler hat perched askew, squints at a tattered blueprint. Lou, his stout companion in a polka-dotted fedora, fiddles with a bundle of ropes and cackles with anticipation.
"I tell you, Lou, this is going to be legendary! No one's ever danced with lightning before,"
"No one's ever been daft enough to try, Benny! But tonight, we'll make history—either as geniuses or the world's biggest fools."
Benny tugs at a knot with trembling fingers, while Lou attempts to steady his nerves by humming a waltz. The air buzzes louder, the machine’s hum rising to a fever pitch.
"Do you remember the safety word?"
"Wasn't it 'stop' or 'help' or maybe 'my hat's on fire'? Never mind, just hit the switch!"
Lou[/@ch_2] slams the big red button. The machine shudders, sending a cascade of sparks across the floor. Bolts of artificial lightning snake out, seizing the ropes and jerking the duo upright like marionettes.]
The garage is suddenly alive with crackling energy. Benny and Lou are wrenched into motion, their limbs flailing in synchronized chaos. Their hats wobble precariously as their bodies convulse in time with the machine’s electric rhythm.
"I can't control my legs! Lou, are you dancing or being electrocuted?"
"A bit of both, Benny! I call this move 'the sizzling shuffle'!"
Sweat and fear mingle on their faces, reflected in the glossy surface of the machine. Sparks rain down like fiery confetti, casting jagged shadows that twist and twitch.
"Lou, this isn't what I imagined! My bones are playing castanets!"
"Keep smiling, Benny! If we survive, we'll take this act on the road!"
A shower of sparks ignites a rag on the workbench, and the room fills with the acrid scent of burning fabric. Benny and Lou lock eyes in terror and exhilaration.
"Abort mission, Lou! Pull the plug!"
"With what? My feet have minds of their own!"
Benny lies on his back, staring at the flickering bulb overhead, while Lou gingerly sits up, hat in hand.
"Well, Benny, I think we invented something. Not sure what, but it's definitely unforgettable."
"Next time, Lou, let’s try dancing with umbrellas instead."
