Jake stood at the edge of the lifeguard office, inhaling the salty air as he prepared for his first day on duty. Despite the bustling scene, a sense of excitement mixed with nerves fluttered in his stomach. "Here goes nothing," he muttered to himself, stepping inside the small, sun-bleached building.
The head lifeguard, Laura, a seasoned pro with a perpetual tan and an easy smile, handed Jake his uniform. He accepted the bundle with anticipation, eager to join the team.
"Make sure it fits well, Jake. Safety first!" Laura quipped, heading back to her post.
Jake unfolded the uniform, his smile faltering as he stared at the vibrant pink swimsuit in his hands. It was unmistakably a women’s lifeguard suit, complete with a feminine cut and decorative details.
Jake considered his options, knowing he couldn’t afford to miss his first day. Embarrassment aside, he decided to put it on, hoping to resolve the mix-up quickly. As he slipped into the swimsuit, a strange tingling sensation spread across his skin.
"This feels... odd," he murmured, glancing at his reflection.
Jake blinked at the girl in the mirror, her features a mirror of his own, yet distinctly feminine. The pink swimsuit fit her perfectly. Shock rippled through him as he touched his face, confirming the unbelievable transformation.
"What just happened?" he whispered, a mix of disbelief and wonder in his voice.
Emerging from the changing room, Jake—now in her new form—walked back to Laura, who raised an eyebrow at the sight.
"Wow, Jake, you look... different," she remarked, trying to put her surprise into words.
"Tell me about it," she replied, adjusting the straps of the suit. Despite the unexpected turn of events, a part of her felt strangely comfortable.
Jake, now fully embracing her new role, took to the lifeguard stand. Her initial anxiety had faded, replaced with a newfound confidence. The ocean stretched before her, endless and inviting, reminding her that sometimes, life’s unpredictability could lead to unexpected adventures.
"Maybe this summer won't be so bad after all," she mused, scanning the horizon for any signs of trouble, ready to face whatever came her way.
