Bert stood outside his front door, patting his pockets frantically. The realization that his wallet was inside hit him like a sudden gust of wind. He sighed, glancing at the closed windows, hoping for a miracle.
"Another peaceful evening," murmured Ernie to himself, oblivious to the persistent knocking at the door.
"Ernie! Open up!" called Bert, his voice muffled by the closed door.
"Looks like you could use a hand," said Superman, landing gracefully beside Bert.
In moments, Superman emerged, holding Bert's wallet triumphantly. "Here you go," he said, handing it over. Bert thanked him profusely before heading to the store.
"I'm so sorry, Bert. I didn't hear you," said Ernie, his face flushed with embarrassment. "Don't worry about it," replied Bert with a forgiving smile. Together, they unpacked the groceries, filling the kitchen with warmth and laughter once more.
